Honey Grove Elementary first grade students planted flowers in front of the school. They have been studying about flowers and seeds during science instruction. They had a great time and took pride in helping to make their school ready for Spring!
Honey Grove Elementary School Pre-Kindergarten students and their families were invited to participate at Family Night. Families were encouraged to learn through play using the same equipment and experiences that the students use in their classes every day.
The Honey Grove United Methodist Women Volunteer Readers read with Honey Grove Elementary School students every Thursday afternoon. The children love getting to know their "Bigs" and the volunteers are happy to share the joy of reading.
Please use 903-378-2264 ext. 199 to reach the Elementary school. The other phones numbers no longer work. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Honey Grove Elementary has once again been awarded an ExxonMobil Educational Alliance Grant to enrich math and/or science instruction in the classroom. The grant of $500 was made possible by funding from the ExxonMobil Corporation through McCraw Oil Company and our local Kwik Chek. This grant is part of a program that supports schools in communities that are served by ExxonMobil sites. ExxonMobil has a long history of providing support to schools. Kwik Chek is happy to have the opportunity to invest in the future of their community to neighborhood schools.
Family engagement is the mutual responsibility of families, school and communities which builds relationships to support student learning and achievement and to support family well-being, family-student relationships and ongoing learning and development of children, families, and educators. Family engagement is fully integrated in the child's educational experience and supports the whole child.
You can read the attached document, "2016-2017 PK Family Engagement Plan," to learn more about this program.
Congratulations to our very own Mrs. Paige Banker for being selected the KOYN 93.9 Teacher of the Week for the week of November 4th! She was nominated by her principal Mrs. Mitzi Sherwood who said:
“Paige is a 'jack of all trades'. She teaches 3rd-5th grade technology classes and 4th grade English Language Arts. She also serves our GT students and produces our online announcements, featuring students as news commentators. She provides our entire campus with technology support services and leads our technology committee. We appreciate Paige for all she does for our students and staff.”
