For the 20th consecutive year, the scrapbook with its "Cars" theme took first place. Our local club was also first in service and won the growth award by increasing enrollment by more than 10%. Junior Emilee Hall was elected as the new state secretary; she will now campaign for the national office. Her campaign skit received third place. Character skit, a new competition for Honey Grove, placed second. The banner finished in third place. Soph. Ty Lewis placed third in math, and in a brand new "visual arts expo," junior Preston Clemons (with the help of senior Marshall Clem) placed first with a metal statue, a robot; and fresh. Aaron Nelson placed first in mixed media art.
Although the group talent did not qualify for national, the ladies did advance to the finals at state with their montage of Christian music.
The group will next travel to New Orleans June 27-30, 2016, for the national convention.
Congratulations and good luck!
