In the pre-lims, the squad performed in three categories, each with a one-minute time limit: fight song routine, crowd leading (cheer), and band dance. Those three scores were added together to determine which teams would advance to the finals where each squad performed a continuous three-minute routine consisting of those same three elements: band dance, crowd leading, and fight song routine. In the crowd leading portion of the finals, the girls had to listen and respond to an announcement like at a live football game to determine if they needed a defense or offense cheer.
